Brighton artist Ian Hodgson speaks about techniques he uses to create amazing graphite drawings of people, things and spirit – and Bowie’s Blackstar. Russell Honeyman made this interview at the opening of his latest show at Naked Eye Gallery in Hove, 13 February 2016.

‘Black Star, by Ian Hodgson – conceived as Bowie passed on’

Ian revealed he was making an image of a mirror-ball eclipse (Black Star) when he heard Bowie had died, as part of a series of mirror-ball drawings, one of which won an award in the National Open Art competition in 2013. About six minutes into this 7 minute video.
