Jerwood Gallery in Hastings, East Sussex, is seeking a Gallery Development Manager (maternity cover) to join its busy team.

The role is fundamental to growing the business at the gallery. You will provide leadership and be responsible for a wide ranging brief including the gallery shop, generating commercial income through private hire, developing the public programme of events at the gallery, managing the Education Co-ordinator and overseeing the development of our fundraising expectations and freelancers.

Excellent communication and people management skills will be complemented by a calm and confident approach and a willingness to think creatively to maximise income in all areas of responsibility. You will represent the gallery so will need to be at ease when dealing with people at all levels – and from all backgrounds.  We anticipate that you will have a love of the arts and significant experience of working with the public in a cultural setting.

This is a full time position (maternity cover) that will be a minimum of 6 months, commencing in mid-January 2016. Jerwood Gallery operates variable opening times to meet visitor demands, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.  It is essential that applicants be prepared to work flexibly to meet these operational needs.
