Eastbourne Borough Council (EBC) are pleased to announce a competition to create a piece of public art that ‘captures the moment’ to reflect on the pier fire in the summer of 2014. The Council have committed funds from the grant provided by the Government to achieve this goal to support the aim of promoting tourism in the town.
EBC are seeking to invite any individual or group who would like an opportunity to be involved in this creative project to consider submitting a design to achieve the above ambition. We would encourage designers to use materials recovered from the fire such as structural steel, timber decking and ‘melted’ 2p pieces.
The artwork will need to be located on either the pier itself or on the adjacent promenade or seafront area. A grant of £2,000 will be available to the successful bidder to develop a design and a further £20,000 to create and install the final artwork.
