ATELIER PR: “To celebrate the first 12 months of our beautiful gallery beside the sea we’re throwing open the doors by having an OPEN – an exhibition that is open to anyone over the age of 16 to apply and open to (almost) any subject and method.
(Applications are now closed and we’ve gone through thousands of images and made the selection.)
Our two galleries will be brimming full of art of all kinds – a great variety of subject, style and method!

The website went live at 6.00pm on Thursday 14th July when the exhibition opened to the public.
ABOUT ATELIER BESIDE THE SEA
We are a new arts venue on Brighton Seafront opened in the middle of the pandemic in June 2021! We offer a wide range of creative activities and the best in art and craft to inspire and surprise our local community and visitors to our city.
POSITION Atelier Beside the Sea is on Brighton Beach more or less straight down from the station. Pretty much every visitor to the city will pass the venue if the weather is ok and many come in to browse and buy.
GALLERY The gallery is a space for surprising, fresh and original contemporary art, craft and design. A national and international programme of exhibitions is currently under development.
SHOP The shop specialises in beautiful and practical handmade work and highlights the individual makers and their processes. We offer a carefully curated selection of ceramics, textiles, jewellery, print, painting and sculpture from outstanding artists, craftspeople and designers from Sussex, and across the world.
MAKE The teaching and community programme create and run varied classes for all levels. From porcelain paperclay, wood carving and jewellery making, to sustainable fashion design and drawing on the beach, there is something to inspire all ages and interests.
HIRE The arches are available to hire for community events and local artists and makers; corporate meetings, events and product launches.
