FABRICA: Beyond the Gallery – support our work in the community

At Fabrica we know how important the arts are at times like this one. They help us connect to one another, bring us joy and provide us a space to be ourselves away from the challenges of everyday life.

We believe art organisations like ours have a role to fill in using creativity to bring us together and support the most vulnerable in our society, and have been working hard to ensure everyone can engage with and participate in the arts through these difficult times.

Read on to find out more about how we’ve been supporting our community and ways you can help out too.

Woven by Us is a free textile workshop for older people living in social isolation.

While our participants can’t meet we have been distributing them parcels of materials and weaving kits so that they can continue making from home.

“Thank you so much for the art materials,
I’m going to make a start on weaving this afternoon.
Your kindness means so much to me ”
– Woven by Us Participant
Each kit includes a selection of materials such as felting wool and calico and equipment such as a weaving loom.
Chomp at Fabrica is a creative holiday lunchclub aimed at low income families with children under 12 years old, providing a free healthy lunch and creative activities during the school break.

Our partners at One Church have been distributing food hampers to families in receipt of free school meals, and we’ve been busy creating activity packs to be delivered alongside the food hampers.

We designed activities which can be done at home using household waste and provided small packs including materials, an activity sheet and short instructional videos.

We will be producing 3 lots of 100 activity packs every two weeks.

These are only two of the many projects and activities we have been delivering in our community.

We believe they are, now more than ever, essential to bring us together and ensure no one, independent of age, background or circumstances, faces this situation alone.

We would therefore like to invite you to support our work by:

Donating £5 towards the cost of a Chomp Activity Pack
Donating £25 towards the cost of a Woven by Us Making Kit
Making a one off donation for another amount
Becoming a member and supporting our activities all year round
Booking our venue for an event at a later stage
Thank you in advance for your support and we look forward to welcoming you again soon!
