Saskia Olde Wolbers is an artist based in London. Since the mid-1990s Olde Wolbers has been making videos that combine fictional and documentary elements in their scripts with fabricated otherworldly analogue imagery. The videos are shot in model sets that are dipped in paint and submerged in water. These documents of a real time process make for unstable imagery that intuitively guide the voice-over. Her work Trailer (2005) was recently exhibited in Towner’s Twixt Two Worlds exhibition.
Olde Wolbers has exhibited her work widely including Art Unlimited Art Basel, Museum M Leuven, Secession Vienna, The Goetz Collection, Mori museum Tokyo, MOCA San Diego, The Hirshhorn Museum Washington DC, The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Tate Britain London. In 2003 she won the Baloise Prize at Statements Basel and in 2004 the Beck’s Futures Prize. Recently she completed Yes These Eyes are the Windows 2014, an Artangel commission and short film.
Saskia Olde Wolbers is represented by Maureen Paley, London and Galerie Diana Stigter, Amsterdam.
