Film: Ben Rivers: Ah Liberty! ** 12-29 Nov 2015 ** Brighton Museum
This special screening, during Brighton film festival CINECITY, celebrates our new acquisition of the artist Ben Rivers’s 16mm films Ah, Liberty! and Origins of The Species (2008). Moving between documentary and fiction, and shot on 16mm film, a medium which is fast becoming obsolete, Rivers’s films offer a glimpse into the lives of people existing at the margins of society.
The works were acquired through The Contemporary Art Society Collections Fund, 2014 as a joint acquisition with Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.
