Classic artist’s skills in painting and drawing underpin this lovely show at Naked Eye Gallery in Hove by Ian Hodgson, Lesley Jones and Patsy McArthur, three successful local artists. The show opened on 1 May, and will continue for the duration of the Brighton Festival.
Naked Eye’s airy white showroom was the perfect place for these works. The visitor is greeted by a huge river-green and scarlet composition of a figure floating in water, alongside large charcoal drawings (Patsy McArthur); expressive works in graphite including the iconic drawing of the Brighton Peace statue that graced the cover of this year’s Brighton Artists directory (Ian Hodgson), and atmospheric expressionist-abstract landscapes (Lesley Jones).
Sussex Artbeat photo review is below, and an interview with Patsy McArthur can be found on this blog (link at foot of this page).
The exhibition runs until 31st of May 2015.
