Art on show in Brighton & Hove and Sussex

Affordable art at new Hove gallery in Artists Open Houses **4-5 Dec**

Interior designer and artist Katherine Richards has opened a new art gallery on Portland Road, Hove, to showcase contemporary art by emerging and established artists from Sussex and beyond. Katherine Richards Art Gallery’s first collection includes Phoebe Boddy, winner of the Mall Galleries Figurative Art Prize 2021, mixed media artist Alvaro Tamarit, oil painter Susan Keshet, mosaicist and mudlarker Liz Taranti and sculptor Tim Bates.

Katherine says: “My aim is to create a welcoming and relaxing space, a visual experience that will appeal to anyone who loves colour and design. I’ve spent much of my time with interiors clients explaining the importance of using colour both intelligently and with great care, in order to create the perfect balance of palette specifically tailored to suit them and only them. The process of choosing an artwork which truly resonates is personal and deeply important. The result will change how someone can feel about their space.”

Katherine Richards Art Gallery challenges the way artworks are conventionally displayed by presenting them against carefully designed, minimal interior settings to help you visualise the art in your own home.

This weekend, 4-5 Dec, is the last chance to see vibrant Collection Two in the gallery before Collection Two opens on 6 December featuring a more wintery, serene selection of works including highly collectible oil paintings by Nigel Sharman.

Katherine Richards Art Gallery is a member of Own Art, a national scheme which helps art lovers spread the cost of buying art over ten interest-free monthly installments (T&Cs apply).
