The Naked Eye Gallery are pleased to welcome back Christianne Haag in July and August for her stunning new exhibition ‘Homage To My Father’.
In this exhibition, Christianne explores the memory of her father, and takes us on a journey through the Eiger North Face. In 1966, Christianne’s father was one of a group of German, English and American mountaineers who attempted the first ascent of the Eiger North Face winter direct route. They stayed in the face for thirty days and succeeded but under tragic circumstances.
Fifty years later, in memory of her father who died young, Christianne embarked on her own journey to the Eiger North Face for thirty days. She spent this time in the mountain chalet which was her father’s base camp; drawing, writing, taking photographs and exchanging experiences with skiers and mountaineers who she met at the chalet. Her travels enabled her to fully immerse herself both physically and emotionally in her father’s world and produce the delicately emotive work which she will be showing at this exhibition.
