MADE BRIGHTON celebrates its 10th year in 2015! It’s the city’s annual contemporary craft and design fair taking place in the beautiful Corn Exchange at The Dome. MADE BRIGHTON is a selling event, offering the public the opportunity to buy original and exceptional pieces of craft and design direct from the best local and national makers and has become firmly established as a friendly, accessible and top quality show. Over 5500 visitors attend, the majority of whom return year on year knowing that the work on show won’t disappoint.
MADE BRIGHTON showcases jewellery, textiles, ceramics, basketry, glassware, furniture, home accessories, fashion and much more. All the work is hand crafted, unique and often quirky.
A café provides a place for visitors to relax and take refreshment. With so much work to see, many people like to make a day of it, spending the morning viewing work, stopping for a bite to eat, then returning to continue shopping. It’s wonderful!
About
MADE BRIGHTON – The Design and Craft Fair is organised by Tutton and Young Ltd, the team that have run the highly successful Brighton Art Fair since 2004. Artist and print maker Sarah Young and administrator Jon Tutton.
BRIGHTON ART FAIR and MADE BRIGHTON are now firmly established as major annual events in the arts calendar of the South East.
At least 5000 visitors visit the art fair and MADE each year. Many of them enjoy talking to and buying directly from the artists and makers themselves, learning more about their artwork, techniques and interests. We hope this encourages buyers to contact artists and makers after the event to buy or commission work and establish a longer term on-going relationship.
The Team:
Jon Tutton and Sarah Young: Co-founders and directors of the Tutton and Young Ltd. Jon is the main organiser and head honcho, risk-taker and forward thinker. Most of his time is spent in one way or another on the fairs. Sarah is head of selection, placement and does most of the graphics for the shows. She also exhibits as she has been a maker a lot longer than an event organiser (she sticks to the above mentioned jobs and may well come over as pretty clueless if asked about anything else!) Jon and Sarah have been together for over 20 years and are married.
Anne-Marie Shepherd: Our totally invaluable colleague. Her main areas are PR, marketing and organisation, but she does a load more than that and helps immeasurably to make the fairs the friendly, positive events that they are.
We have a fantastic team of ‘on the ground’ helpers who do everything to ensure the smooth running and friendly atmosphere of the fairs. From loading and unloading for the exhibitors, to manning the credit cards, filling the goody bags and pouring the wine, they do it all effortlessly.
