Technical Demonstrator (Polymers), University of Brighton

Bring your sound working knowledge of the technical and commercial aspects of working with polymers to work as part of our team based in the city centre. You will be an integral part of the Design and Craft program, where you will deliver technical resource and demonstration to support teaching activities.Your key strengths will include the ability to organise, prepare and deliver technical inductions and demonstrations and provide technical support for the academic needs of students and staff. In addition you will have recognised and relevant qualification and the ability to work independently, confidently and safely whilst maintaining good relationships with staff and students, adapting your style to meet different information needs. Your abilities would also include experience of casting a wide range of plastics including; polyester resin, bio resin, epoxy resin, jesmonite and polyurethane. The ability to finish cast objects including sanding and polishing to a high standard, and the aptitude and skills to thermoform plastics, machining and fabrication of sheet plastics including acrylic, polycarbonate, and nylon are also essential.
