Art on show in Brighton & Hove and Sussex

Art Show: I DON’T KNOW WHERE WE ARE GOING BUT IT SURE SOUNDS NICE ** 17-23 Aug 2015 ** Gallery 40

Perhaps you saw him. A man, dragging a large wooden organ along the sea front. Or that rabbit, leading a choir on a roundabout on easter morning. The 5 days walk projected upon the bottom of the pier.

‘I don’t know where we are going but it sure sounds nice’ is both an exhibition and an intervention, the outcome of a series of strange events undertaken in Brighton throughout 2015. Ostensibly a piece of music, the work consists of over a hundred pages of text instructions culminating not in a score for a specific instrument, but rather a score for being in general. In realising the score, Daniel Alexander Hignell has created a variety of works in a myriad of forms, including photography, sound, video, text, installation and performance, all conducted in the very public setting that is the city of Brighton.
