It’s definitely beginning to feel like spring is in the air, so it’s rather fitting that Ink_d has a fresh and exciting body of three-dimensional work being installed in the gallery for Three Dimensions. The gallery has had the painters and 2D works hanging proudly for the past month with a brilliant response so it’s now time to move into the realm of 3D.
On show will be cracking artwork from all our usual suspects who ply their trade in sculpture or ceramics. We’ve got some sumptuous bronzes from Dan Baldwin fresh off the back of his ground shaking New York debut show last year. His practice is ever evolving and we’ll be interviewing Dan specifically about his 3D work and its progression during the show, so watch this space for that! Other artists include Brighton’s very own neon icon Andy Doig with freestanding sculptural pieces, Matt Smith with his exquisite and amusing ceramic assemblage’s, Maria Rivans’ nostalgic 3D paper collages and some of Paul Scott’s subtly subversive Cumbrian Blues. Plus a whole lot more.
A very exciting facet of the show will be the surprise work from those who don’t usually create art in 3D. We’ve given these artists free reign to provide us with something three dimensional and can’t wait to show what the likes of Enzo Marra, Benjamin Murphy, Sarah Shaw, Req and Hutch all came up with.
