Hove Civic Society, supported by the Arts Council/National Lottery, is now issuing a call to artists for sculpture proposals from which to select and commission three high quality maquettes. This is a first step towards commissioning a sequence of sculptures for a planned new sculpture plinth on the Hove seafront. Inspired by the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, the aim of the Hove Plinth project is to bring new sculpture to Brighton & Hove and create a cultural landmark that will attract and engage the local community and tourists. Artists are invited to submit proposals, which respond to the current and/or historical context of this iconic seafront promenade site. Budget: The three selected artists will be paid £2,500 each to deliver a maquette and full project description. The maquettes will be used to aid fundraising for the full-scale sculptures, enabling potential funders to visualise the proposed artworks. Deadline: Monday 4th May 2015 6pm The full brief is attached below and further information can be found at www.hoveplinth.org.uk For any enquiries, please contact Karin Janzon, Hove Civic Society by emailing karin@hovecivicsociety.org Hove Civic Society Final Artists brief
