In addition to The Sochi Project, he is the founder of the documentary photography organisation, FOTODOK and is widely exhibited and published. Inspired by McLuhan’s The Medium is the Message, the project focuses on communication and community. At PHOENIX BRIGHTONFormat Video and Photography Network host a discussion event asking questions about the nature and function of artists’ collectives in relation to still or moving image work. The group will present a critical and discursive take on the philosophical or ideological positions that are central to this kind of collaboration. This event is open to the public as well as the other exhibiting collectives. Free, no booking required.

Every Saturday throughout the festival one of our friendly guides will walk with you to explore some of the exhibitions on show. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work with you, and we’ll round everything off with a chance to talk about what we’ve seen at the final stop on the tour.
