Brighton Digital Festival is a month long celebration of digital arts and culture, taking place in Brighton throughout the month of September. We are the fastest growing digital festival in the UK, with 2013’s programme including 175 events across the city, drawing an audience of over 41,000.This year, we are offering six £4,000 Arts & Technology Commissions to support the development and presentation of works for the Festival.Successful applicants will also have access to an advisor who will support the delivery of projects, advise on positioning and the communication of their vision to diverse audiences, as well as offer support with documentation and reporting. This is a development from previous years and has been made possible by new funding from Arts Council England.
Criteria: We’re looking to commission ambitious works that embody the nature of Brighton Digital Festival as a platform for collaboration between the arts & digital communities. The commissions are for new works, or works that will be taken to ‘the next level’ with funding.Special consideration will be given to work that would be exhibited in outdoor spaces, and has the potential to engage a large public audience. The work should be exhibited within Brighton & Hove during the festival in September 2014, although we also encourage works that would exist virtually in online spaces. We’re looking for projects that will engage audiences outside the arts and digital sectors. Applications should include thoughts on audience development and engagement. Successful applicants should be willing to document their project, and supply reporting on engagement as required at the end of the festival.
