Nick Sayers is a maker and graphic designer based in Hove. He makes polyhedral artworks and functional items from reused or repurposed materials as part of his ongoing Spheres project. These have ranged in scale from car tyres and estate agent boards to cable ties and measuring tape. The structure of the pieces is mathematical and based on the 20-sided icosahedron and 12-sided dodecahedron. The use of everyday ‘waste’ items in a modular, playful way demonstrates the beauty of mathematical symmetry and implies the endless wastefulness of industrial production.
Nick Sayers will talk about his work and the environmental concerns that underpin much of his practice.
