In this newly commissioned exhibition curator and artist Kim L Pace will explore our relationship with the sea from a fantastical perspective. Replete with anecdote and speculation, stories around the sea conjure imaginary underwater landscapes and challenge our notions of the known world. The exhibition, it’s content, design and accompanying programme will focus on alternative visions and representations of the sea that derive from areas of cultural production such as science fiction, fantasy, psychology and the investigation of anomalous phenomena (for example, ‘cryptozoology’). Testing the boundaries of science, knowledge and believability, Depth Wish brings together the work of ten artists from the UK, USA, Germany and Sweden, who work in animation, drawing, sculpture and installation.
