Thomas Allen will be taking over the gallery for a week to create a ‘contemporary cave painting’ that will be an amalgamation of public drawings. Thomas will first be approaching members of the public to create drawings that will feed into his final painting.
Part of the gallery will partitioned off using suspended fabric to create a darkened wall space on which the painting will take place. Thomas will be using a handheld lamp for light which will lend this a performance dimension. This event will take place over a four day period during which the public will be able to come in and observe Thomas creating his work first hand.
